..my lack of confidence was a like a quiet whisper in my ear that never seemed to let up.
After months of searching for a solution in teen magazines and the media, I decided the only way to achieve the body I truly wanted was to start working out and radically change my diet. In a hurry to see results, I spent hours doing intense cardio, I cut fat out of my diet completely and obsessively counted the calories in what little food I consumed, sadly never realising how much I was punishing my body in the process. Low fat, low calorie diets were the next big thing, and I thought this was the key to achieving the slim body I'd always wanted. Hunger became the norm, and I reassured myself that this familiar discomfort must mean that my new diet was working. Sadly, in the space of a few short months, this need to achieve the 'perfect body' led me to starve & train myself almost to oblivion.
I HAD BECOME ANOREXIC.
EVENTUALLY, AND NOW IT SEEMS INEVITABLY, MY HEALTH DETERIORATED TO A DANGEROUSLY ILL STATE. I WAS ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL AMIDST WARNINGS OF INFERTILITY & EVEN HEART ATTACKS. I HAD HIT ROCK BOTTOM. IT'S AT THAT MOMENT, LYING IN A HOSPITAL BED, WIRED UP TO MACHINES THAT I DECIDED ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH.
Something had to give, and realising that it was a miracle that I was still alive, I made the decision to bravely ask for help. Since that day I have NEVER LOOKED BACK, (not even for a second!). I learnt the importance of balancing my emotional & physical needs, and the importance of having a healthy body image. I fell back in love with food, (OH, HOW I LOVE FOOD!), and I learnt to exercise in a way that strengthened & cared for my body without ever being punishing or extreme. I learnt to take care of my mental health, to manage stress, and most importantly..
..I LEARNT TO LOVE MY BODY.
The body that I'm blessed & born with, that's uniquely mine.
..to today, and I'm blessed to be a mother to four beautiful children. My body's shape has naturally changed and evolved as the years have gone by, but by listening to my body, by feeding it right and by exercising in a way that's right for me, I stand here today in my 40's, strong & healthy with a body that I love.
It's this love & passion for health that constantly inspires me to help other PEOPLE to LOVE THE SKIN THEY'RE IN, to PRIORITISE BOTH THEIR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH, TO exercise in a fun, safe way, and to achieve their IDEAL WEIGHT in a way that's gentle, sustainable & ALWAYS, ALWAYS kind to their bodies.
I save people the stress of trying to go it alone, wading through a sea of online workouts & diet fads, and really help them find the solution that's right for their unique bodies. I help them to achieve the results they're looking for in a safe and sustainable way. Extreme diets that promise quick results are not only bad for your body, but they're unsustainable in the long term, and often lead to yo-yo dieting where you gain back more than you lost, leaving you even more frustrated than when you started. I also help people to take care of their mental health, and give them back the confidence & contentment they've been struggling to find.
It sounds like such a cliché but balance really is key. Key to achieving the results that you want, key to making them sustainable, and key to having a good time getting there!
Good health is about so much more than whether or not you have the body that you want. It's about nourishing your body from the inside. It's about feeling strong & alive, being ready to take on anything life throws at you, and living a fuller, happier life. It's my absolute pleasure to help PEOPLE look at themselves in a whole new way, to emerge happier, more confident and..
..ready to take on the world!
Sunshine, dark chocolate & nuts! Time to reveal a few of my obsessions.
